On Sunday 12th April two boats were named. Mohana named a Junior Eight and our juniors took the boat for its first outing on the river. Gordon Craig, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at the Royal Star & Garter Homes, named the four 'Row to Remember'.
Junior Eight - 'Mohana'
The Kingston Rowing Club juniors have an exceptionally strong spirit and when one of their number, Mohana Knipp, became seriously ill her response was to want to help her crew mates. Her mother, Bettina Knipp, donated £12,500 towards a new Stampfli racing eight. The club undertook a major sponsored row in 2014 to raise money for new boats and also to raise money for the Royal Star Garter Homes now with a home in the Borough. The club raised £5,800 for the Royal Star and Garter and sufficient funds to allow the acquisition of this £28,000 boat. This would have been impossible without the very generous donation from Mohana and Bettina Knipp.
Club Coxless Four - 'Row to Remember'
The Row to Remember fundraising enabled the purchase of a coxless four/quad sculling boat. The weight specification of the boat makes it suitable for our women's squad and our junior men and is a versatile addition to the club's fleet.
